Take and Tape Nine

I’ve been wanting to get back to making mix tapes and I’ve also found myself missing the actual mixing. I don’t have records, turntables and a mixer anymore, but I do have Garageband! So, it’s back to the fade mixes like I used to do, enjoy!

  • Stillness is The Move by Dirty Projectors – I don’t know about you, but I love the indy-doing-r-n-b stuff.
  • Orange Shirt by Discovery – I’m a huge fan of both Ra Ra Riot and Vampire Weekend, so I’ve been looking forward to this one.
  • Make Light by Passion Pit – Manners is my new prescription for getting out of bed when I don’t wanna.
  • I’m a Pilot by Fanfarlo – Really enjoy these guys, they remind me a bit of The National.
  • It’s Thunder and Lightning by We Were Promised Jetpacks – My current favorite.
  • Pariah by Dredg – I first saw these guys opening for Coheed and Cambria and really liked them, they’ve got a unique, kind of off putting sounds that I really find intriguing.
  • Bright Lights by Placebo – I’m not sure what it is, but Placebo has been one of my favorite bands over the last 10 years or so. They always seem to sound fresh and unique to me.
  • Idiot Heart by Sunset Rubdown – Ok, I bought the hype. I like ‘em.
  • Percussion Gun by White Rabbits – Love the dual drums on this one. It’s Frightening is a great album too.
  • The Boys Are Leaving Town by Japandroids – Great, catchy and solid indie rock.
  • Die a Little by Viva Voce – They’re back and better than ever. Love these guys. Go see them live!
  • Supermagic by Mos Def – Love the rock elements in here and the Black Star-eque harmonies. Where is that new Black Star album?
  • Prizefighter by Eels – Great song of an amazing album. Really want to see them live.
  • Thick as Thieves by Kasabian – Consistent as ever, Kasabian’s new album is terrific.
