Okkervil River at The Triple Door

The show: Okkervil River at The Triple Door, Wednesday, Sept 17th. A private show for KEXP VIP members and friends. As usual Okkervil River put on an amazing show. These guys are simply great live, no matter the venue.

The show was a bit short, being a KEXP VIP show during the day, but it was fun, full of energy and played to perfection. The venue is great, very comfortable with good sound and sight lines, but wasn’t all that conducive to crowd participation on the more upbeat songs. This was particularly noticeable when they closed the show with one of my fav songs of the last few years, “Unless it Kicks”, despite the vigorous attempts of Will Sheff to get everyone up and partyin’.

Here is a nice video from the show, shot by my pal Tom on his new d90. I need one of those!

The Bottom Line

It was a great show and I highly recommend seeing Okkervil River if you get the chance. I’ve seen them quite a few times and have had a blast every time.
