Secrets Are Sinister by Longwave
It’s been a little while but Longwave are back with a really, really strong effort.
Secrets Are Sinister kicks off really strongly with “Sirens In The Deep” which kind of has a bit of an etherial sound to it, sort of reminds me of Mew or something similar. Next up is “No Direction” which a solid, anthemic and straight-up track that hooks from the beginning. The album is worth a listen for those two alone. But, wait, there’s more. This album is solid front to back. “Satellites” is a nice, almost Snow Patrol-esque power ballad, “Life Is Wrong” is deep and complicated and the title track closes the album with epic guitars and beautiful vocals. In between you’ll find great tracks that are all strong, diverse, and passionate. Really good stuff.
The Bottom Line
If you’re looking for a great (and at times very epic) rock/pop album, in the vein of Idlewild, Interpol, Muse etc. look no further than Secrets Are Sinister.
